Spring Awakens at Drumlanrig Castle & Country Estate with Creative Workshops, Mother’s Day Treats, Garden Tours and River Fishing

Drumlanrig Castle & Country Estate is delighted to welcome visitors back for the new season with a host of exciting reopenings and events from late February onwards.

From 28 February, the General Gardens and Adventure Playground reopen, inviting families, walkers and garden lovers to enjoy the beauty of the Estate as spring begins to emerge. Visitors can also explore the wider Estate using the way-marked walks and enjoy a relaxed day in the fresh countryside air.

The Spring celebrates the Start of the River Fishing Season, from the 26 February 2026. To mark the opening of the river fishing season, Drumlanrig is offering 10% off Season Permits and Special Fishing Packages including fishing, ghillie service and catering. These tailored packages provide the perfect opportunity for both experienced anglers and newcomers to enjoy some of Scotland’s finest fishing in the stunning surroundings of the Nith Valley.

For creatives, there is a Silver Earring Making Workshop on Saturday 14 March with hands-on Silver Earring Making Workshop, led by professional jeweller Crazy for Ruthie, who brings over 20 years of experience. Taking place in the Larchwood Cabin, from 9:30am – 12:30pm, at £45 per person which includes tea, coffee and cake. Participants will design and create their own unique pair of silver earrings, with no prior experience required.

To celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday 15 March, visit Drumlanrig Castle’s Tearoom and treat mum to a memorable dining experience in a historic setting. Choose from a Two-Course Lunch from 12pm or Afternoon Tea from 3:30pm, for a classic assortment of sweet and savoury delicacies. While visiting, guests are encouraged to enjoy a stroll through the Gardens, let children explore the Adventure Playground, or discover the Estate’s scenic walks.

For those looking to make a weekend of it, build a slow itinerary. Drumlanrig’s Snug Stays offer charming cottages dotted throughout the estate, each thoughtfully designed for unwinding, featuring cosy interiors with wood burners, perfect for reading, reflection, or quiet evenings with loved ones. With easy access to outdoor adventures like fishing, e-bike routes, and winter walks through serene trails and hot tubs for soaking under starry skies after a day exploring the estate, what’s not to love.
